Work and the 40th coffee
My fingers were jittering due to continuous typing, eyes hurt due to over screen time. ‘There’s another downtime’ shouted Dan. I sighed!
I desperately needed some sleep.
But my head was inside the code we were trying to run.
Our team had decided to upgrade our artificial intelligence system to be more fair and unbiased in a span of 3 days. This was the third day and I hadn’t slept in the past two days. This is the thing about the tech industry. You can hardly know what repercussions will your product have.
The technologies are tested on the market and then repercussions are corrected.
As I sipped my 40th sup of coffee, I thought again about ‘WHY’ I was doing it?
Thinking about the WHY always has and will keep me motivated! And I always wonder what motivates people to do what they do and I also believe there is a selfish part to it!
About my selfish part? Being a woman of color I never want any ‘artificial intelligent’ system to tell me that I am a nurse and Dan is a doctor! Also I liked the idea of working hands on with my team.
A group of motivated people working on something important which actually makes a difference is what excites me.
