By this time I’m pretty sure almost everyone has seen Boston Dynamics’ (recently acquired by Hyundai) robots dancing to “Do You Love Me”.
Recapping some of their previous showcases we can see a huge improvement.
- 2016, Atlas presentation
- 2018, Spot dancing to “Uptown Funk”
- 2020, multiple models dancing “Do You Love Me”
We have gone from tiny steps and stretches, to precision coordinated movements and dances. Their robots are utilized to support (and replace in most cases) humans and complicated labor. This includes actions such as carrying sensors where conditions are not adequate for humans, or monitoring areas taking photos to analyze error patterns. Performing security duties still remains a concern as their light weight supposes a weakness for this kind of labor.
Now, the question is, what’s next for BD and AI programmed robots? Where is the limit?
