There’s been a lot of talk about data and the prospects of it. Recently, I delved into the reinforcement learning area of machine learning, which has been super amazing I must confess. This new year brings a lot of tremendous opportunities in Artificial Intelligence, the question is, how much are you going to make out of it?

In 2019 sometime around February, I got selected and invited by the French Government on sustainable cities development. I was excited about the prospects of that trip however, I couldn’t make it due to my expired passport and the process of renewal in Nigeria coupled with time constraints.
What are my saying in essence?
Be ready at any given time ‘t’ this new year in your personal development, especially in data science and AI. Opportunities will not have to announce themselves, you will need to acquire the required skills ahead for a great move.
Oh yes! I’m in love with your data. As an individual beginning a journey into Data & AI, I’d recommend that you grasp the concept of SQL if you can. Over time, you will discover a similar concept in SQL that also applies to Power BI and Python. This is not to say that you cannot go ahead straight into Data Science with Python or R.
When I started out in data science, it felt mind-blowing, however, there were a lot of areas. I needed a mentor and a guide to put me through certain areas and how best to utilise them.
My best advise would be, get into a community. People learn by association.
Reispar Analytics Academy is a good place to begin your data journey, either virtually (across the world) or on-site (Nigeria only). In 2020, we had our first participants beyond Nigeria.
I recall, a client who joined our Data Analysis (SQLBI) training from Ireland, a Compliant Analyst at Paypal Ireland at the time, and another from North Carolina, USA.
