
UC San Diego Police are investigating a wildfire the department said occurred Sunday morning at the Leichtag Biomedical Research Building, a center focused on researching childhood diseases.
Police were notified at 9:28 a.m. about the fire.
“Police arrived at the scene and met with staff at the home who found and extinguished a small fire in the cargo hold,” police said in an email to the campus community. “No injuries have been reported and no suspicions have been reported so far.
“The suspect has not been arrested and the investigation is ongoing.”
Police said anyone with information about the fire should call the department at 858-534-4357 or send an email to detective@ucsd.edu.
The crash happened as the university completed its final training in early spring.
